CALENDAR
The school begins the application process in March of the previous academic
year. The academic calendar follows both Egyptian and American holidays.
Students are expected to attend approximately 170 school days that start at
7:45 and go till 3:00. The school year is divided into two semesters (4
terms), divided by midterm examinations and final examinations.

The American Program of the
Egyptian Language School received its accreditation by the Commission of
International and Trans-regional Association (CITA) in March 2003 and is a
fully accredited school by Egyptian and American standards.
The School follows the highest standards of education, truly creating an
environment for students and teachers that is not only conducive to learning
but to also growing in a very supportive atmosphere. The school motto of
"learning for life" is taken very seriously, as students are always held to
the highest expectations.

THE FACULTY
The faculty is comprised of dedicated and experienced American and foreign
certified teachers. An American curriculum is followed using textbooks from
the United States. All courses are designed to allow students maximum
understanding of topics developing their individual personalities,
creativity, and logical and critical thinking.
THE STUDENTS
Students must take an admissions test before being accepted into the program
and have a record of previous achievement. Students of the American Program
have many expectations placed upon them. Students are expected to:

THE COURSE LOAD
All students take a full load of classes including English Language and
Literature, Math, Science, History, Arabic, Foreign Language (French or
German), Computer Science, and Physical Education. In addition, students are
offered various other courses such as art, music, psychology, sociology,
global studies, and various other electives.
SAT AND SAT II
Students receive training for the SAT in their individual English and math
courses. Specialized courses are also offered to students on Thursday
afternoons. SAT II guidance is provided in May and June upon the completion
of the SATII subject courses (Math, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
In addition to their full course load, students are expected to participate
in a wide array of extracurricular activities, such as student council,
drama, newspaper, basketball, soccer, decorating club, and many more.
The school also offers throughout the academic year several school
fieldtrips, encouraging community education and school fellowship.
