We all need to know the answer of the following:

What should we all know and do for developing children characters?
Basically:

Children develop character slowly and in stages.
Adults should:
Respect children and require respect in return.

Help children learn to think honestly.
Help children assume real responsibilities.
Balance high support and real responsibilities.
Initiate and demonstrate forgiveness, regardless of blame.
Provide ways for children to make real choices.
Love children! Love is vital for character development.

General tips for parents& Teachers:

1. Acknowledge children’s feelings. This helps identify & resolve
   problems.
2. Encourage children to recognize others feelings and points of view.
3. Think out loud to solve problems. This will demonstrate problem-
solving skills, which will help children do the same.

   apologizing, interrupting politely..Etc).

What do we mean by Character Education?

Building ELSIAN children characters and contributing to their character education is E.L.S main objective for this academic year. It’s our lifetime target and to succeed in this mission, parent’s help & collaboration are urgently needed.

Children need the help from adults for more than food and shelter. They need it to understand and acquire the strong moral habits that contribute to good character. Certainly, it’s the child’s parents that have the primary responsibility for that.

Main traits children should acquire to grow in character:

      • Discovering the balance between concern for self and concern
        for others.
      • Gaining control over one’s own desires.
      • Developing a deep regard for others.
      • Putting aside one’s own interest and needs in order to serve
        others.

Actually this requires the parents talking support, example, encouragement and some times inspiration.
This what we mean by character education.

How can I find if my child is gifted or not?
If your child is gifted, he/she will be…

• Asking hypothetical questions (i.e.: what would happen if..)
• Sustaining close observation.
• Taking things apart and reassembling them.
• Using richer vocabulary in conversation.
• Developing more complicated storylines in their storytelling.

Is my child hyperactive?
A hyperactive child’s behavior is identified by the following traits:

• Virtually continuous restlessness and motion.
• Forgetfulness, easy to get distracted.
• Repetitive behaviors.
• Difficulty in dealing with change.
• Low self-esteem, and mood swings.
• Difficulty with balance& fine motor skills.
• Difficulty waiting for things.

What can I do to overcome the serious consequences of my child aggressive attitude?

• Take any necessary control to avoid your child harming another
  person.
• Keep your child beside you & not in isolation.
• Encourage your child to verbalize his/her feelings.
• Use questions to get your child put into words what bothers
  him/her.
• Reinforce rules & explore alternative ways he/she could have
   handled the situation.
• Don’t dwell on your child’s outburst once he/she’s resumed good
  behavior.
